Now that the NFL lockout is a thing of the past, we can get on with some football. In my house we’re big Broncos fans and so as we prepare for a new season with great hopes and anticipation for a playoff season….I noticed that my Denver Broncos attire needed a bit of updating. After spending time at Outlets at Loveland, Outlets at Castle Rock and Outlets at Silverthorne I found some great new pieces that I purchased (personally, love the Broncos socks that Parker is wearing) and I thought I’d share.
And you know me when I say “share”….I’m on TV. Here’s the Outlets of Colorado’s latest fashion segment on Good Day Colorado!

If you haven’t left for work today than you’re in luck. The Outlets of Colorado have put together some fashion tips on key items you should wear as you head out the door in sub-zero temperature:
Bundle up: Wear layers so that as you step out into the cold you can survive the bitter temperatures and then when you’re inside you can start peeling of the layers to accommodate your warm office, store, or business destination.
Avoid cotton: You want to have a technical, moisture-wicking layer as your first layer next to your body. Stay away from cotton as it will stay wet and keep you cold.
Hat, Gloves, and Scarf: Mandatory. 40% of your body heat can escape through your head, while 30% of your body heat can escape through your hands. Cover up as much of your body as possible. By reducing the amount of exposure to your skin will help decrease your chances of frost bite. On a day like today, exposed skin in 10-minutes (or less) can see signs of frost bite.
Sensible Shoes: In other words, wear some good warm boots. There are so many great styles out right now and your closet should have one warm boot for days like today. Wear them with jeans or cute jeggings, or even with a great skirt (if you dare). Don’t forget warm tights to shut out the cold.
Sunglasses aren’t just for summer: A bright, sunny day with snow on the ground can be hard on your eyes, so pull out the shades on those days.
Happy holidays! I can’t believe we’re in the middle of Hanukkah and Christmas is just weeks away. The pressure is on to get everything done in just a short amount of time and since we’re walking the centers every day, the Outlets of Colorado are here to help. We have found some great toy/games that we can recommend (because we played with them) for this holiday season. Here are a few we tested and loved:
Twilight Scene It? DVD game: Completely fun especially since all of our testers have seen the movies, read the books and had determined whether they were on team Jacob or team Edward (it was an even draw between Jacob and Edwards….so it became a fairly competitive afternoon). The Scene it?Twilight Deluxe Edition features hundreds of heart-stopping clips, trivia questions, and on-screen puzzles from the Twilight movie phenomenon! The game will challenge your observation, memory, and puzzle-solving skills while reliving your favorite Twilight movie moments. We loved playing this game!
Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 Talking 13″ U-Command Buzz Lightyear by Thinkway Toys. What we liked with this toy is that Buzz talks in his original character voice. He has over 70 phrases and he shows off with music and dance steps from the movie. You can move Buzz with his wireless, infra-red controller and use the dual joysticks to send Buzz forward, backward or into a 360-degree spin. There are over 1,000 possible action combinations you can do so it’s super fun and always new.
If you have a Wii console we had a ton of fun playing Sean White’s Snowboard and Deal or No Deal. Sean’s White’s Snowboard was fun, totally cool graphics, and a tough game especially if was determined by other testers that you have no sense of balance (oh, and I’m not bitter). We thought the Deal or No Deal Wii was just plain fun. All the testers joined in the strategy to outsmart the banker and find the briefcase with the million dollars. And if you didn’t win the big bucks (one game I ended up with $10) it was okay….hello, it’s just a game!
We’ve got plenty more ideas on toys and games to give for kids of all ages. If you need other ideas about what to get this Christmas, post who you’re shopping for with some info on the Facebook pages of Outlets at Castle Rock, Outlets at Loveland, or Outlets at Silverthorne and we’ll help you find the right gift at a great price!
There are many young boys and girls this holiday season that will go without a Christmas present. Outlets at Castle Rock has partnered with the Toys for Tots Foundation and are a Toys for Tots Drop Off Station. You can bring new, unwrapped toys to our Customer Service Desk any time before December 18th and your toy will be donated to the organization and given to a child in need.
We recognize that times are tough for many families and any help you can give would be wonderful.
The Holidays are about traditions. One of my favorite traditions is the Tree Lighting event at Outlets at Castle Rock. This year promises to be the best event yet (and my family can’t wait). Outlets at Castle Rock will be home to Colorado’s largest Christmas tree, a freshly harvested 70-foot, 7,000-pound White Fir that arrived on a 50-foot flatbed trailer from the Oregon/California Shasta Trinity Forest.
A crew of four spends seven full days shaping the tree, plugging it with 500 live fir branches, coating it with 70 gallons of fire-retardant and decorating it with more than 4,500 lights, 3,000 ornaments and bows for its magnificent lighting celebration on Friday, November 19, at the Outlets at Castle Rock. The annual tree lighting event, hosted by the Outlets of Colorado at its Front Range center at Castle Rock, will feature seasonal entertainment, live music with the Kory Brunson country rock band, exclusive shopping discounts– and of course, a visit from Old Saint Nick.
When talking with my friends at the Outlets at Castle Rock they were proud to share with me that although the 70-foot tree is extravagant and intended for thousands to admire and enjoy during its time in Colorado, ten (10) White Fir trees are planted in the Shasta Trinity Forest on the California/Oregon border to replenish the harvesting of this tree, which is characterized as Colorado’s largest holiday tree. After the Christmas and New Year holidays, the tree is recycled and its materials are used for erosion control and other ecological purposes and projects.
You, your family and friends are invited to attend Outlets at Castle Rock’s Tree Lighting event and free concert. It promises to be enlightening (I just couldn’t resist).
See you Friday Night!
