Can You Find These Dogs A Loving Home?

The Outlets of Colorado and Larimer Humane Society will host families and their canine companions at the Outlets at Loveland for a day of fashion and fun on Saturday, May 7 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Ten adoptable dogs, each poised to endear a friend or family and a new home, will be groomed, attired in Petsense® Fashions and escorted down the runway by their human model companions at the first ever Take a Bow Wow event.

This free pet expo and pet fashion show will feature regional vendors like Tail Waggin’ Mobile Pet Grooming, the provider of the ‘salon services’ for the featured Larimer Humane Society dogs. Booths and demonstrations will be provided by Doggie Dips and Chips, Bones Du Jour, Precious Memories, TryMyWork.com, Aspen Grove Veterinary Clinic, Rovers Ranch, Off Leash Training, Spa 4 Paws and more.

Immediately after the dog fashion show, Take a Bow Wow will host a modeling contest honoring one pooch through the Outlets of Colorado’s Strike a Pose model search contest. Treats and prizes for both four-legged and two-legged attendees are planned. All proceeds from Take a Bow Wow will benefit Larimer Humane Society.

The brilliant idea behind Take a Bow Wow is to match up these adorable shelter dogs with just the right families and individuals for adoption. They’ll be attired in accessories and clothes from the Outlets at Castle Rock’s boutique store Petsense®, where dog fashions are available at outlet prices of half off, every day. The shelter dogs will be groomed in anticipation of this runway event and accompanied by the stylish Strike a Pose amateur models, who represent the Outlets of Colorado for one year after winning the human version of the Outlets’ modeling contest each spring. The human models will also showcase fashions from some of the 300 retail outlets within the Outlets of Colorado centers in Castle Rock, Loveland and Silverthorne.

“Larimer Humane Society is delighted to be the charitable partner with the Outlets of Colorado for this first-ever event,” said Marcie Williams, Community Relations Manager for Larimer Humane Society. “These pets, and many more like them at the shelter, are ready to be welcomed into compassionate homes.”

Pet owners with a particularly photogenic pup can enter him or her in the Strike a Pose Dog Modeling Contest, to vie for the crown of the Outlets of Colorado Strike a Pose Dog. The winning dog will receive a three-day, two-night vacation for his or her family at Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, a pet-friendly resort property. The prize package also includes a $150 gift card for shopping at the Outlets at Loveland, a pet modeling portfolio card with a professional photograph, a June fashion shoot alongside the human Strike a Pose model contest winners and on-air appearances on select television segments for the period of a year.

Countless individuals and organizations have stepped up to do their part of make this Larimer Humane Society benefit event a success. Tail Waggin’ Mobile Pet Grooming, the mobile grooming outfit that is a favorite of many pet owners around northern Colorado, will be on site at Take a Bow Wow. This unique grooming service has a self-contained tub, table, freshwater tank, generator and hot water heater in its Dalmatian-themed van. Owner Mitzi Jones will perform the ‘makeovers’ on all ten of the adoptable dogs. “Dogs, who are essentially pack animals, really enjoy all the favorable attention they receive after being pampered and groomed,” said Jones. “I’m excited to do my part for these animals and help them put their best foot forward for their Take a Bow Wow appearances.”

The Boy Scouts of America, Longs Peak Council, will be on clean up duty and will assist visitors with information on the day’s events and schedule at Take a Bow Wow. The Outlets at Loveland’s Facebook fan page is offering a donation of fifty cents to Larimer Humane Society on behalf of each of its fans who provide a ‘like’ through their Facebook page at Facebook.com/outletsatloveland.

Take a Bow Wow will offer gourmet treats, water, and doggie flying discs to canine visitors. Their human companions will enjoy truffles from Harry & David® and other refreshments. The Outlets of Colorado will give away hundreds of dollars in merchandise, like Coach® bags and accessories, gift cards and other prizes through drawings and a spin on their famous prize wheel.

The Take a Bow Wow Expo and Pet Fashion Show will take place Saturday, May 7, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Outlets at Loveland, in Space #5270 at the south side of the center.  Sponsors of the event include Northern Colorado 5, Petsense® Outlet, Tail Waggin’ Mobile Pet Grooming, Larimer Humane Society, Front Range Event Rental and the Outlets of Colorado. The Power of being Liked!

It’s funny how a simple thing like someone clicking on your Facebook page letting you know they “like” you can make you happy.

It happened to me today. I’m going through our Facebook “like” (formerly fan) pages for the Outlets of Colorado….Outlets at Castle Rock, Loveland, and Silverthorne, and I love to see that people “like” us! It made me feel good.

I know that the centers (me too) love this outlet for sharing sales, deals, cool things we see while walking the centers, and just posting things about fashion. We’re glad our friends on Facebook like it too.  We want to take the outlet world by storm and we want to build our following to help more people look great and not pay retail (or should I say practically free)! If you “like” us already on Facebook, than thank you. We couldn’t do it without you. If you haven’t “liked” us….yet…then please join one or all of our locations online.

The more people we welcome onto our Facebook page (Outlets of Colorado, Outlets at Castle Rock, Outlets at Loveland, Outlets at Silverthorne) the more stuff we can give away!

How to Wear Patterned Tights

Patterned tights are in for Spring. They are a great addition to your wardrobe to add a bit of texture to an outfit. I’ve got people asking me all the time how they can add a patterned tight to their outfits without looking ridiculous. Here’s what I say.

1. I love to add texture to my basic black dress (but they go with almost everything).
2. I love the openwork patterns that let your skin peek through.
3. I tend to go for patterns with a smaller repeating pattern because it’s subtle.
4. I like the vertical openwork stripe.
5. I tend to pair patterned tights with simple dresses (more solids than patterned dresses).
6. I also tend to wear tone-on-tone patterned tights. What I mean, I wear black tights with a black dress).
7. I wear them with almost every shoe I have in my closet. Including open-toed shoes.

I hope this helps. I’ve seen great deals on patterned tights at Dress Barn, Banana Republic, Jockey, and Bass and other store at Outlets at Castle Rock, Outlets at Loveland, and Outlets at Silverthorne.

Pantone 15-5519 is the color of the year!

Pantone.com is one of my favorite websites. They always pick the hottest colors for the year and this year they announced PANTONE 15-5519 Turquoise, an inviting, luminous hue, as the Color of the Year for 2010.

How fabulous is that! Turquoise is very hot (well, actually a cool) color for the home and for your wardrobe. This spring it is one of the hottest colors you will find and I’m thrilled to let you all know that this color trend is a great one to find at the Outlets of Colorado. I’ve seen great shirts, belts, bags, skirts, and dresses….you name this color is going to be a great one for spring and will push right into summer.

Now you know. Get out there and shop.

Spring Shopping

I cannot get over the deals at the Outlet Malls. Every retailer seems to be having a sale. Love that. It’s nice to see great merchandise discounted and then put on sale. I love all the colors being shown for this spring. I wanted to share with you a few events that you need to know about. If you’re intersted…become a FAN at either (or both) the Outlets of Colorado or the Outlets at Castle Rock’s Facebook page and you will get additional savings on fabulous deals.

CALVIN KLEIN: they are having a Friends & Family Event March 18th to 21st. You can receive an additional 30% off your purchases. Kid you not! This is a great deal. I was just in their location in Silverthorne (and there is one in Castle Rock) and they had amazing merchandise for both men and women.

The Bass, IZOD, and VanHeusen are also hosting a Friends & Family Event March 18th to 21st. You can take an additional 30% off everything.

This is just one (of the many) reasons why I shop Outlet malls. I love to get the latest and greatest fashion items at an amazing discount and then on sale.

See you out shopping (and saving)!

Feeling Scarf Challenged?

We all know that scarves are a great accessory. Everyone’s wearing them – women, men, young or old, trendy teenagers, and even hip boys have added the scarf to their wardrobe closet (or if you’re my son, their wardrobe floor). But if you’re one of the millions who consider themselves scarf-challenged (which it’s okay to admit this, you are among friends), I found the perfect solution.

It’s called an “eternity scarf”, but others will call it a “circle scarf” or “infinity scarf”. Whatever, they all mean one thing, a scarf whose ends are connected in one long circle making it easy to throw on and stay warm, while you look hip. I Kid you not. This uni-gender circle of fabric has perfected the art of wearing a scarf. It can be found at most major retailers. We found a great selection, marked down to practically free, at Off 5th.

If your one of challenged who can’t loop a scarf perfectly, this is a must have. It can be worn as a scarf, hood, mask, or shawl. If you don’t believe me, watch my video.
